Artemis II
Imagine being millions of miles away from home, traveling further than any human in history. This is the job the Artemis II crew had.
The goal for Artemis II was to attempt to drive the Orion spacecraft by putting it through a series of tests. They were aiming to test life support, propulsion, power, thermal, and navigation. They were also aiming to test proximity operations, habitability, crew interfaces, and wanted to do scientific activities. They’re also aiming to try a Mars trip.
The spacecraft had a splash-down landing on April 10, after a 9 day trip. The crew was the first to orbit the moon since 1972. The crew consisted of Reid Wiseman, an American Aviator born in Baltimore, MD, Victor Glover, an African American born in Pomona, CA, Christina Koch, born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Jeremy Hansen, a Canadian born in London, Ontario. They are one of the most diverse crews in NASA history. The Artemis II trip was the first American flight to carry a Canadian.
Hopefully, the Orion spacecraft will help us learn more about our world and space, and bring us more things to rightfully admire.
