Forget the ‘Summer travel surge.’ If you think $4.50 a gallon is high you aren’t prepared to see gas prices now. Now you’ll be saying “8 dollars for gas!” instead of 4$.
In the United States for the past month or so, gas prices have risen 35% from their original counterparts. The prices are caused by prices of oil barrels rising to 100$ per barrel due to the Iran conflict making it more difficult to get, closing the place they use to import it. The actual price raise is about 4 or 5 dollars, when prices used to be around 3$. The last time gas prices were this high was in Summer of 2022, when Russia invaded Ukraine.
Many people are affected by the gas prices, including but not limited to farmers, families, travellers, and supply truck drivers. Farmers are affected by the lack of the diesel they need for gas equipment to run, families are affected by not having enough money for the gas they need to get to work and to school, and supply trucks take a lot of gas as a whole, leaving the companies behind them with many expenses.
These rising gas prices affect so many people in this world believe it or not. They might affect people that have lower income households or small businesses. Experts say the issue is not just a small problem, but a combination of global conflict, limited supply, and growing demand as people travel.
