How does such a powerful hurricane not only threaten the homes and lives of almost everyone on the Southeastern coast of America but also impact our digital view of it? As Hurricane Milton rapidly barrels towards the state of Florida, its impact reaches far beyond the storm itself. This is how Hurricane Milton has had effects on communities in the southeast and how social media plays a crucial role in this ongoing situation.
Hurricane Milton is a very powerful storm that is currently flooding the southeastern parts of the USA in the Atlantic Ocean. Characterized by high winds, heavy rainfall, and significant storm surges, this hurricane poses serious risks to coastal areas, mainly being the state of Florida. Almost everyone in Florida has had to evacuate their homes, some of them even had their homes wrecked and destroyed with water damage. As of the latest reports, Hurricane Milton is classified as a Category 3 hurricane, with wind speeds exceeding 120 mph. That’s almost double the speed of how fast you would be normally driving down a freeway.

According to the CBS News Anchor, “At least 24 people have already died from the storm, officials confirmed to CBS News. Milton moved across the Florida peninsula and out over the Atlantic Ocean.”
The storm is expected to make landfall along the Mid-Atlantic coast, with states like North Carolina, Virginia, and Maryland in the potential strike zone. The storm has already caused massive property damage, flooding, and power outages, with lots of communities being stranded without electricity or essential services, with more damage being expected from it.
